Rock Studies and Historical Dressing Up

Sorry I didn't post yesterday but we got carried away dressing up : )
The older girls started the day with a continuation of our rock studies (the younger ones did try to join in - I think the allure of files, streak plates and nails got to them) we started by recapping the ways we can identify rocks (Mohs, luster, cleavage etc.) then they were presented with the 'Rock Detective Tray', this contained everything they need to identify the rocks (the dropper contains vinegar as I don't quiet trust them with acid just yet)
They chose a rock from the display case and used the detective pages from Considering Gods Creation to identify all the characteristics of it.
as you can see they enjoyed it and carried on
and on
and on
and on for ages.

We spent the afternoon playing dress up (I am soooo regretting all the money I previously spent on Disney dresses) it started when the girls discovered a box of scarves and fabric in my room and decided to dress up as some of the  historical princess we had studied.
DD6 opted for China
DD4 started as a Roman princess and ended up as an Arabian princess

DD8 went for an African theme
and I'm not quiet sure what DD2 was - she got changed alot!
